Small 5x7 study at Maramec Springs Park. Oil on canvas panel. Maramec spring is the fifth largest in Missouri, and pumps 100 million gallons of fresh water a day! Ahh, the joys of plein air painting. I set up at this location as the light was lighting up the fall colors on the spring. I knew it was going to be a challenge as there were bluffs in the background and the trees didn’t have many leaves. But the water...and the colors that were still hanging on after a windy evening the night before. The Waterfall at the park was to my left and I thought “If I paint quickly the light should be just perfect when I complete this one-I will still have time for the waterfall”. I chose a small 5x7 canvas. It was a Saturday and what I didn’t consider after I blocked in the painting...is everyone would stand directly where my view is to get pictures of the waterfall to my left. There was even a professional photographer (who took a few pics of me painting as well)..for a local web syndicati...
Manuela Woolsey is a Missouri Artist who resides and works in Leslie Missouri. As early as she can remember Manuela had a desire to create. Her mother was from Germany and her father was a musician so this made for a creative childhood. She spent most of her time with her sister that was one year older and they loved playing in the nearby creek and farm lands. After graduating High school in 1985 her parents encouraged her to obtain a more realistic career rather than pursing her dream of being an artist. Her earlier years found her traveling as a photographer, make-up artist, stylist and sales manager.
